FITNESS MANAGER.

The Fitness Manager (FM) is a newly created role at FIT Lane Cove, designed to oversee and elevate the quality and performance of our Personal Training and HIIT teams. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our team delivers exceptional member experiences, achieves sales and performance targets, and upholds the high operational standards of our studios.

As the Fitness Manager, you will be responsible for recruiting and developing a team of world-class trainers and instructors across our 3 HIIT studios, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. In collaboration with other key stakeholders, you will play a crucial role in shaping our fitness offerings, driving sales, and maintaining the operational efficiency of our boutique studios. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a premier health club redefining fitness on Sydney’s North Shore.

This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in sales as well as personal training and HIIT instructor training, mentoring and development, and who is motivated to deliver fitness experiences that exceed expectations.

The Fitness Manager is one of four Manager-level roles at FIT Lane Cove, all of which work highly collaboratively and report directly to the Director of Operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Personal Training Sales & Management

  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment process for Personal Trainers, ensuring we attract high-calibre fitness professionals.

  • Design and implement training programs for the PT team, focusing on technical skills, sales acumen, and member engagement.

  • Monitor PT performance, providing regular feedback and coaching to help team members achieve their goals.

  • Drive PT sales growth through initiatives that enhance member engagement and retention. Collaborate closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing (DSM) and Director of Brand & Communication (DBC) to set and achieve revenue targets.

  • Regularly review PT services to ensure they align with member expectations and industry trends.

2. HIIT Team Management

  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of HIIT instructors, ensuring alignment with the club’s standards and values.

  • Rostering of both HIIT studios

  • Work closely with the Programming Manager to maintain the quality of HIIT programming, providing input to keep sessions fresh, challenging, and aligned with member needs.

  • Conduct regular evaluations of HIIT classes, offering constructive feedback and facilitating ongoing team development.

  • Support the Programming Manager in the launch of new HIIT programs, ensuring instructors are well-prepared and confident in delivery.

3. Studio Management & Maintenance

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of all fitness studios, ensuring they are safe, clean, and fully equipped.

  • Coordinate maintenance schedules for fitness equipment and studio spaces, resolving issues promptly to minimise disruptions.

  • Implement and enforce standards for studio presentation, ensuring all spaces reflect our commitment to world-class facilities.

  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions for any maintenance or equipment needs.

4. Team Collaboration and Leadership

  • Act as a key member of the management team, working closely with the Director of Operations and other managers to align on strategic goals and operational priorities.

  • Build and maintain a cohesive and motivated fitness team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and high performance.

  • Lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to FIT’s values of teamwork, excellence, and member focus.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of team and individual KPIs, aligning them with overall business objectives.

5. Member Experience & Engagement

  • Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the club, regularly interacting with members to gather feedback and build relationships.

  • Collaborate with the Member Experience team to address and resolve member concerns related to fitness services.

  • Continuously seek ways to enhance the member experience through innovative programming, improved service delivery, and attention to detail.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

A minimum of 2 years personal training/team management is required to be eligible for consideration for this role.

  • Proven experience in Personal Training with relevant certifications.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in recruiting, training, and managing fitness teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth and meet performance targets.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Passion for fitness and a commitment to delivering exceptional member experiences.

  • Sales Orientation: Confidence in collaborating with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Director of Business & Commercials to drive personal training and program growth, achieving sales targets through strategic initiatives and effective team training.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities to engage with team members, management, and members effectively, providing guidance, feedback, and support.
